Organic food in Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast

Guide · 2026-10-17 · 3 min read · by the Blueberry Bear Team

The Wide Bay–Burnett is one of Queensland's biggest horticulture regions. Bundaberg's red soils grow sweet potatoes, tomatoes, capsicums, avocados, citrus and macadamias, and the Fraser Coast has a growing number of small food businesses. Certified organic options are fewer than in Brisbane, but they're there if you know where to look.

The businesses below come from our Queensland organic directory, listed from information on each business's own website. They are not Blueberry Bear sellers or partners, and we have not verified their organic certification. Descriptions sum up what each business says about itself. Check their websites before you go.

A note on "organic where possible"

Several regional stores describe themselves as stocking organic "where possible" alongside local, natural or spray-free food. That's honest and useful, but it means the shop's range is mixed. Check each product:

What's in season (approximately)

The region's warm climate means a long growing season, but organic supply depends on individual growers. Ask what's local.

Season Wide Bay–Burnett (approximate)
Autumn–winter (Mar–Aug) Tomatoes, capsicum, zucchini, beans, sweet potato, citrus; macadamia harvest (roughly March to September)
Spring (Sep–Nov) Strawberries tail off, early mangoes start in some years, leafy greens before the heat
Summer (Dec–Feb) Mangoes, lychees, avocados (variety dependent), passionfruit
Year-round Sweet potato and pumpkin in storage, eggs, honey

Tips for regional shoppers

Where Blueberry Bear fits

We're building Australia's organic and low-tox marketplace, where every product carries an honest label badge, and we'd love to hear from growers and makers in the Wide Bay–Burnett. See Sell with us. Until real sellers join, the stores and products on our marketplace pages are fictional and marked SAMPLE.
